Privacy Policy – ShopSense – Review Analyzer

ShopSense – Review Analyzer (“the extension”, “we”, “our”) helps you evaluate product reviews by filtering likely unreliable reviews and summarizing genuine feedback directly on the page. We designed the extension to operate with on-device processing and no collection of personal data.

Summary

• No personal data collected.
• No sale or sharing of data with third parties.
• On-device processing: page content is analyzed locally in your browser.
• Local preferences only: we store optional settings in chrome.storage.

Data We Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit personal information. The extension processes the currently active page’s content in memory when you choose to run it.

Local Storage & Retention

We may store non-personal preferences locally (e.g., filter settings, UI options, feature toggles). You can clear this at any time by removing the extension or clearing extension data.

Permissions Used

• activeTab – lets the extension run on the current tab after you click the toolbar button.
• scripting – injects the content script into the current page to analyze reviews and render the summary UI.
• storage – saves your local preferences and cached non-personal results.

If host permissions are configured for specific shopping sites, they are limited to reading product/review pages on those domains. No use of <all_urls>.

Network Requests

The extension may fetch additional pagination or product data from the same site you are visiting to improve review coverage. Fetched content is treated as data and is not executed as code. We do not send page content or personal data to our own servers or third parties.

Third-Party Services

No analytics SDKs, ad trackers, or external script loaders are used. No remote code, eval, or dynamic code execution is used.

Children’s Privacy

The extension is intended for general audiences and does not target children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Your Choices

• You can disable or remove the extension at any time.
• You can clear locally stored preferences via your browser’s extension data controls.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect improvements or legal requirements. We will update the “Effective date” above and publish changes at this URL.
